நான் எழுதிய “ஒரு ஈழப் போராளியின் பார்வையில் தோழர் தமிழரசன்” என்னும் நூல் குறித்து தனது கருத்துக்களை தெரிவித்த தோழர் சிவசேகரம் அவர்களுக்கு எனது நன்றிகளைத் தெரிவித்துக்கொள்கிறேன்.

Sorry for the delayed response and for writing in English as my Tamil typing is poor.

I could not download the document as it required certain steps which I was not happy about. So I read it on-screen.

A relatively small part of the book is on the life and contribution of Thamizarasan.
While the dedication and hard work of Thamizarasan and several others like him are commendable, there is need for serious political criticism of their style of work and stated positions on the Sri Lankan national question.
A Marxist cannot be a nationalist at heart, although a firm stand against national oppression is correct. The 'patriotism' prescribed by Mao, Fidel etc. are of that kind.

Thamizarasan's support of the cause of Tamil Eelam was uncritical and lacked in class analysis. Tamilnadu as a whole was effectively divided into pro- and anti-Tamil Eelam camps (later to translate as pro- and anti-LTTE camps to many). Thus he was yet another victim of biased information and, sadly, he never searched far enough for facts.

Support for oppressed Tamil people is one matter, but to endorse the Tamil Eelam agenda is another.
Tamilnadu does not understand why the Muslims and Hill Country Tamils consider themselves to be nationalities distinct from the Tamils. they blindly extrapolate the notion of 'Islaamiyath Thamizar'.

Thamizarasan made great sacrifices despite serious errors. What was the outcome? Where did things begin to fail?
When sentiment gets the better of reason, people are driven by emotion. If one stops and thinks critically and self-critically, one rectifies errors and advances in the intended direction.
To critically assess Thamizarasan politically is not to belittle his contribution, but for others to learn from his experiences.
